South West Trains (SWT) reported today that all lines between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo were blocked, severely disrupting journeys between London Waterloo and Camberley/Farnborough area and London Waterloo. According to SWT: ‘Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Waterloo and Clapham Junction, all lines are currently blocked’. SWT later tweeted that services were restored but delays expected throughout the day and evening, and their website confirmed that services will continue be affected throughout the evening until the end of service.
SWT confirmed that the lines were blocked due to a person being hit and killed between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction around 3pm, causing the trains to queue for approximately forty minutes before service was resumed. This led to serious disruption across the network, with SWT advising using alternative routes and operators (such as GWR for Paddington/Reading).
There’s no indication that any disruption will continue into Tuesday (25th April), but travellers should check the SWT website prior to departure:
Update: As of 9.28pm, delays are still being reported.
